Summer means birthday season for our family. We love the warm weather and outdoor parties. Last week we celebrated a low waste Coachella themed birthday party with close friends and family. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I opted for reusable paper honeycomb balls and paper tassels for decorations, rather than a balloon garland, which while looks fabulous, can take up to years to decompose. I’ll be able to use paper honeycomb balls time and again, for other parties throughout the year. Instead of using tape to hold them open I instead used paperclips, which make for super quick and easy pack up. ⠀⠀⠀
I borrowed pallet tables, cushions, tablecloths, cake stands, baskets and more party decorations including the gorgeous giant dream catchers from @apartytoremember.com.au . Borrowing and hiring party décor reduces waste and allows you to use props and décor you wouldn’t normally have access to or a need to use again.
The hire process through A Party To Remember was quick and simple through the website and Charlotte was amazing to deal with and so helpful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Food for our guests was home made with the exception of the cake (this Mumma was too time poor to bake and decorate the cake so a big thanks to @Coles) which was served on platters and plates I already own and all scraps and left overs went to my girls' very appreciative pet chickens. I used a glass drink dispenser and reusable cups to keep everyone hydrated, as the day was warm and beautiful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For entertainment we used a giant Jenga set, hula hoops, imagination and a piñata. ⠀
Party bags of course matched the digital invites, and I personalised them for each guest using their name. This was well received by the guests as it doubled as a place setting for each child. Due to the varying ages of the children I ensured that each bag was age appropriate.
All in all , I was able to keep the party waste to a minimum and still have a fantastic time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
