Sustainability in our business
Wow what a busy start to the year it’s been! I wanted to write a blog post in the lead up to Global Recycling Day but as some of you might be aware I’m currently travelling , so as you can imagine time slipped away from me.
So instead I wanted to touch briefly on sustainability and what it means for
The Conscious Party Co.
Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources. Sustainability is not just environmental- ism.
Sustainability is a core value here at The Conscious Party Co. We recognise that we want to leave a clean world for our children to enjoy.
We aim to reuse packaging rather than buy it new which is why your parcels sometimes arrive in boxes and bags that may have been used many times. Any new packaging we use is reusable and 100% home compostable. Any plastic packaging materials are those we've received from incoming parcels and reuse where we can if they can’t be dropped to the REDcycle bins at Coles. It’s so much better for the planet to buy once, and use over and over again, rather than purchasing single-use plastic based products.
We aim to always be sourcing materials locally to decrease transportation emissions and costs. We also carefully considered the way we produce our toys and aimed for sustainability by reducing the amount of material needed through part design. We use wood and paper products that have been sourced recycled or from an FSC certified supplier, supporting healthy forests and protecting wildlife.
Imagine what we all could achieve if everyone made small sustainable changes! We’d like to see more businesses commit to being green, have higher considerations on the impact they have on the environment, and take action to make changes for the better.Being sustainable starts with one small change and these small changes compound over time and make a huge difference. We only have one planet, and if we don’t take care of our earth, it won’t be there for future generations to enjoy.
